THREE QUESTIONS THAT GAUGE THE KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR FLOCK.

THREE QUESTIONS THAT GAUGE THE KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR FLOCK
BY DR. MERVYN ABREO

Dear preacher/pastor, how much does your flock know about Christ, Christianity and the Bible?

Put them to a simple test by asking them the following three questions:
However, before you start, let me tell you how they should respond: After each question or statement, you will ask them to raise their hands, if they answer in the affirmative.

Let me give you an example: the question - Was Mary the mother of Jesus?
All those who say ‘YES’ raise your hand.
All those who say ‘NO’ raise your hand.
Now all those who neither said yes or no, now raise your hand- they all fall into the category of ‘ I have not given the question a though, I do not know, I do not have time with childish games etc.’
Before starting, warn the people that there should be absolutely no talking or discussion among themselves.

LET US BEGIN:

QUESTION ONE: Was Jesus Christ a Christian?
There will be a mixed reaction and a few embarrassed laughs. But go through with the exercise and see what type of a response you get.
Then, reassure them by saying that it was a trick question.
However, God forbid if there is a non-Christian present. He will wonder how a people so well versed in the Bible, do not even know whether their God is a Christian or not.

Before asking the second question, assure them that the next question is simple, and is only a precursor to the third question.

QUESTION TWO: The reason that Jesus Christ came down on earth was to die on the cross to pay for our sins.
Go ahead with the three questions.

          Most people will say yes.
The answer is no! The reason the Lord came down was to establish His Kingdom. He was rejected and crucified.

QUESTION THREE: Most religions had a founder. E.g. Buddha was the founder of Buddhism and Zoroaster was the founder of Zoroastrianism.

Was Jesus Christ the founder of Christianity?
Debatable, but the answer is a definite NO! Because Jesus did not start Christianity two thousand years ago. Since Christianity is the worship of Jesus Christ, and Jesus was with God in the beginning and was God (John. 1:1, 2) then Christianity always existed.
