CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR

CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR
DR. DR. MERVYN ABREO
We have this funny kind of idea, that only if we ask God for something good and sensible, then there is probably a good chance of getting it. And inversely, if we ask for something evil, there is absolutely no chance of God ever granting our desire.

Sorry folks, it doesn't work like that!
God will sometimes grant you the desires of your heart, however evil and horrendous the consequences! Why? Because He doesn’t interfere with your free will!!
Here is a wonderful example from the Bible.
King Hezekiah was unwell and the prophet Isaiah told him that he would die. However he wept and begged of God to heal him. And God granted a further fifteen years to his life. (2Kings 20).

Three years later a son, Manasseh, was born to him, who turned out to be one of the most idolatrous of men to have walked on this earth. He led the entire country into idol worship to such an extent that God was so angry that He vowed to wipe out Jerusalem and forsake the remnant of His people. (2Kings 21).
Praying: Ask, seek, knock!
The Lord has promised that if one boldly, “asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
                                                                                                ( Luke 11: 10).
The lesson: Only praying for what we need, and what we think is good for us, is an incomplete prayer.
We need to ask God to guide us in prayer. And trust, and leave it to Him, to give us what He knows is best for us!

GENEALOGY OF GOD

 GENEALOGY OF GOD
BY DR. MERVYN ABREO
Animals are valued by their ancestry. The linage of a horse or the pedigree of a dog is very important when evaluating the worth of the animal.
In human beings it’s even more so, especially when it comes to marriage.
With respect to God, the Bible carefully records the royal linage of Jesus, and that He came from the house of Judah.
But what I want to emphasize is the linage of Jesus as God, and not as man, (which is clearly mentioned in the Book of Matthew.
The Bible mentions that God is one!! Yet three Persons are clearly and separately mentioned: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit!
Therefore, to understand where Jesus as God (the spiritual and not the natural Being) ‘came from’, let us trace Jesus’ ancestry downwards from God the Father.

GOD (God the Father) - the one true living God (Jehovah, Yahweh):
He created the earth (matter).
In a time/space environment.
Time: made up of- yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Space: made up of- length, breadth and height.
He created man: matter in time and space.
Man sinned- God lost His kingdom to Satan.
God communicated with man (Israel) - people terrified.
God decided to become man (matter) in time/space dimension.
And communicate with man on a one to one basis, by becoming Jesus.
JESUS (GOD THE SON)
God became man, and was named Jesus.
Got the title of Christ (Greek), Messiah (Hebrew) -- Anointed One.
In the Gospel of John:
In the beginning was the Word (Jesus).
And the Word (Jesus) was with God (the Father).
And the Word (Jesus) was God (the Father).
He (Jesus) was with God (the Father) in the beginning.
Through Him (Jesus) all things were made. (John 1:1-3).
Jesus came down on earth to reestablish His kingdom.
Crucifixion, resurrection & ascension: Jesus ceased to be human (matter) and ceased to be bound on earth (by time & space).
THE HOLY SPIRIT (Advocate, Councilor)
Presence of God (Lord Jesus Christ) continues on earth in the Spirit form as: The Holy Spirit of Lord Jesus Christ the Jehovah.
Now we can see a clear linage from God the Father, down to Jesus Who is God the Son, and ultimately down to God the Holy Spirit!
This helps us to understand that there is only ONE God!!

GOODNESS--A FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

GOODNESS
A FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
BY DR. MERVYN ABREO

One night I suddenly woke up from deep sleep. I checked the time. It was three in the morning. I knew that the Lord was present and that He wanted to convey a message to me. He showed me two objects.

One was like a dried up old coconut. And the other was a living, palpating human heart. It was the heart of a young eighteen year old female patient, during whose heart operation I had assisted, as I was studying for my post graduation degree in medicine.
During the operation the chest cavity had been opened, and the closed pumping heart had been operated upon. After the operation, before the chest cavity was closed, the senior doctor stood back to admire his work. The heart was pumping in the middle of the chest and I couldn't resist the temptation. I reached forward and scooped the living heart in both my cupped hands and watched it as it pumped away.
A few days later, during our rounds in the hospital, the senior surgeon told the pretty young patient, “many a guy will try to win your heart. But this young doctor actually held your pumping heart in his hands.”

And this is what the lord told me, “This is the living throbbing heart I have given all of you! And you’ll have harden it and turned it into an old dried-up coconut. Even if you’ll are hurt by others, do not build walls around your selves, but reach out and “Love one another.”

As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
                                                                                 (John 13:34, 35).

DO ONLY SAINTS GO TO HEAVEN?

DO ONLY SAINTS GO TO HEAVEN?
BY DR MERVYN ABREO
First of all we have to get the correct Biblical perceptive of what a ‘saint’ really is. And we do so by erasing the incorrect picture we may have wrongly developed inadvertently.

Normally people imagine a saint to be someone who had led a holy, sinless life, away from even the clean healthy pleasures of this world, who prays and meditates all the time, enduring his or her days in penance and sacrifice. Saints are normally portrayed with a bright light or halo around the head.
The Biblical definition of a saint is different! Anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, that is any ‘born-again’ Christian, is a saint! This excludes everyone else, including those born into a Christian home, until they become true Christians after they reach the age of reason and make a voluntary decision for Christ! Therefore this definitely excludes even those so called holy persons described in the previous chapter. And you definitely do not have to die to become a saint! Not a physical death but when you die to self, and give your life to Jesus, it is then that you become a saint!

A saint is the common ordinary person you probably brush shoulders with every day, as long as they are true Christians. That is why, when Paul or Peter addresses the ordinary Christian as saints, when addressing them in their letters in the New Testament.
King David, in the psalms, inspired by God said, “As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all My delight.” (Psalm 16:3).
