FOURTH SEAT IN A TRAIN

FOURTH SEAT IN A TRAIN
BY DR. MERVYN ABREO

FOREIGNERS TO MUMBAI (INDIA) BEWARE!

SECOND CLASS TRAVEL

The local trains in Mumbai have First Class as well as Second Class compartments. On innumerable occasions I have come across foreigners unknowingly travelling in the first class compartment, having purchased a second class ticket. They are caught and fined. Whenever I could I have warned and saved a good number of them.

FIRST CLASS COMPARTMENT

The poorer commuters travel by the second class. I used to wonder why they run and try to grab a seat until I realized that they were on their feet the whole day and desperately need to give their aching feet a rest.
Though the seat is meant for three persons, a fourth commuter always squeezes in at the end of the seat. Though uncomfortable he is content. Happier though when he gets the third, or even the second one. And totally thrilled when he gets the breezy window seat.
And of course, if the compartment is relatively empty, as it sometimes happens in the first class, then the commuter is at a loss as to which seat to choose.
We Christians are sometimes like these commuters; never satisfied or happy in our salvation.
CONTENTMENT

There is constant bickering and fights in the Christian community. We forget what the Lord said: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples.” (John 13:34).
Stop for a moment and thank God, that you are saved. And think of those Christians in countries where they are persecuted and some live in constant fear of their lives.
Either we have not experienced the Lord’s love or we defiantly disobey His direct order.
Another common problem faced by Christians is that they doubt their salvation, thereby calling God a liar!

Or even worse, once saved, are afraid that they might lose their salvation, forgetting that we are ‘pre-elected’ and ‘chosen in Him before the creation of the world.’

KINDLY READ: ‘Secrets of pre-election/pre-determination revealed’ and ‘can we lose our salvation.’
